Looking forward to May flowers
Dear One Hi everyone. I miss you! As I am sure you all are aware, everything is shut down now until at least May 20th. So, for NOW my plan is to reopen then. Of course, we'll continue to play it by ear. I am keeping hope of getting back as soon as possible but also learning to lean into this one day at at time thing and feeling grateful to be healthy. I spend a lot of time daydreaming about returning to work and then I also have been finding new ways to go about my life during this time. For one, the book club that I announced to you all, has been really nice. We've been chatting about The Wisdom of Anxiety by Sheryl Paul. It's definitely an opportune time to have some inspiration and discussions on anxiety! I've also been trying to spend more time tapping into creativity and I've been helping my son with his school from home. We've had our ups and downs around here for sure. I am curious, how are you doing? How are you feeling physically? Have you felt tense in your body? Check in from head to toe. As I scan my body, I notice a bit of tension in my jaw and the middle of my back. I am going to pause and just breathe into those areas..... Ahhh, my body is grateful for the attention. Resources for this week: You all probably know by now how much I love Dr. Laura Markham, author and creator of Ahaparenting.com. Her work has transformed my life so deeply. For those of you with children, I HIGHLY recommend her book Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids. She also created a phenomenal workbook, Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids Workbook. It is so good. Wait, but keep reading even if you're not a parent!! On her website, she has resources that go along with the workbook. I can't recommend the three meditations on this page enough. There is a body scan. If you haven't tried a body scan before, it is a really wonderful way to practice mindfulness and connect with your body. For my regular clients, this is a great way to facilitate the mind body connection while we aren't able to have sessions. She also has a meditation on grief and shame. Right now, I believe we are all grieving so much. Grieving normalcy, plans we had, perhaps you know people who are sick or who have died recently. There is a lot going on. I use it often even when there isn't a large world event going on. The third meditation is on shame. This one is really powerful and I practice it a lot as well. I will add this link to the resource page as well. If you haven't checked it out yet, it is compiling the meditations I've sent and a list of mental health resources at this time as well. Let me know if you have any great resources you believe should be added to the list. Here is the link. Again, I can't thank you enough for purchasing gift certificates. I would thank each of you personally but it doesn’t tell me who purchased it! It is so helpful to me in this time and I would love to make sure that when we open up, I get you on the schedule right away so please do let me know if it was you. I am dreaming of getting back into my office space to serve you all. I also can't wait to book myself a massage when things reopen. I am having massage therapy withdrawals. The website with e-gift certificates doesn’t allow me to put in a specific service, such as a one-hour session. It is preset with the dollar amounts of my services or you can choose whatever amount you’d like. So if you type in a $100 gift card and then put in the 25% off code “MARCH”, you’ll get the $100 gift card for $75. Here is the link again and if you’d like to purchase one for a gift, just reach out to me. If we haven't spoken recently or if we have, please don't hesitate to reach out. Please know that I am so excited to hear from you. Fill me in on your world. Let me know if any of these resources have been helpful for your or your family. Let me know if there is something else you wish I was sending out in these emails. What resources are you looking for in these times? Hope you are staying well. I miss you all. In Gratitude, Eileen
