Dear One, Happy almost summer! It feels like summer because my son is officially on summer break. There has been so much going on in the world. I have spent more time in deep contemplation, evaluating and reevaluating what matters to me, than ever before. You are all on that list every day. Thank you to those who filled out my survey- it was really helpful to get an idea on how you were all feeling about everything! As of Wednesday, massage therapy will be allowed to open in CT. However, after A LOT of consideration, I don't personally feel safe opening just yet. As you know, I believe it is my #1 ethical obligation to keep my clients safe. It's also important to me that I am able to keep my family safe right now as well. I know many of you need it and I would love to be back in the swing of things but I am trying to trust that small voice inside that is leading me in this direction. Some of us in the massage therapy field had actually written to the department of health and to the governor to recommend that massage therapy be part of phase 3 ( like it will be in NY) as the proximity to a client is very close. In addition, in order to follow the new legal and recommended( by the state and massage organization) protocols, I most likely need to move my office, purchase a lot of new equipment for the office, and have new procedures in place. As of right now, I am in the process of figuring out what it would take in order to get up and running while adhering to the guidelines and also monitoring how this next phase of opening goes. I am deeply sorry to those of you who were looking forward to getting back into my office ASAP. To those of you who have purchased a gift card ( thank you, by the way!) and are feeling ready to get out for a massage, please just let me know and I am happy to refund you and help you find a massage therapist that is opening. Seriously, don't hesitate to do this. Gift cards can't be counted as income until the services are rendered so the money is waiting for you if you'd like it. I would never want you to feel frustrated that you had spent this money but couldn't receive the service when you were hoping to. For those of you who are on the same page as me and are happy to wait it out a bit longer: I will be in touch. I am hopeful that the next few weeks show me that hospital cases are still declining and I am able to get all of the equipment and set up I need to get back to work but I keep you in the loop as I make decisions and have a clearer idea of an estimated opening date. I am considering offering a tele-self or partner massage session as a service. This would mean if you had something in particular that was in pain or with alot of tension I could guide you or a partner to massage it. I have actually been working on massaging my own abdomen, hips, and ribs this last month and it's been amazing how it improved my breathing. ( I talk about this in a video I just recorded which is the second part to the one in this email, stay tuned!) I am just curious if there is an interest in this service? Would you want to do a zoom call and I can show you how to massage yourself or have your partner massage you ( or you, them). Let me know! Thank you all, again, for your support during this time! I hope you're doing well and are looking forward to the summer months even though it may look different than years past. I miss you all! Today I leave you with a video I created about deep breathing. This is part one. I will email part two soon! In Gratitude, Eileen P.S. Originally when I wrote this email I gave ALL the details on the specifics of the new protocols but it ended up soooo long that I decided to be less detailed. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like more details or if you have any questions. P.P.S. I am in the process of expanding my entreprenurial adventures right now and can't wait to share more with you soon!
